St. Claret English Medium School, Chimur, celebrated its much-awaited Sports Day on the 25th of October, 2024, in a grand and vibrant manner. The event, known for fostering unity, discipline, and the spirit of sportsmanship, began with a formal inauguration that set an inspiring tone for the day’s activities.
The day commenced with the traditional morning assembly, where the school’s management, along with the esteemed chief guest, were warmly welcomed to the stage, accompanied by the melodious tunes of the school band. Fr. Robin Paul, the Principal of the school, extended a heartfelt welcome to the chief guest, Mr. Jitendra Chande (Assistant Police Inspector, Bhisi), the management, and the gathered audience.
The formal flag hoisting ceremony followed, with the school management and chief guest proudly hoisting the school flag, while the four house captains hoisted their respective house flags, marking the beginning of the festivities. The event showcased the unity and discipline of the students, with a well-coordinated march past by the four houses, reflecting the school's ethos of teamwork and harmony.
The torch, symbolizing the spirit of sports, was lit by the dedicated Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Sathywan, and passed on to the four house captains, who in turn handed it to the Sports Captain. The final leg of the torch relay was conducted by the chief guest, Mr. Jitendra Chande, who also addressed the audience with thought-provoking words, emphasizing the importance of sports in building character and fostering teamwork.
The event continued with a lively and energetic Zumba dance performance by the students, which added excitement and set an upbeat tone for the day ahead.
Fr. Jijo Jose, the Manager of the school, then officially declared the opening of the Sports Day for the year 2024-25. In his address, Fr. Jijo spoke about the significance of sports in a student's life and encouraged all participants to give their best in every competition. The Oath-taking ceremony for the House Captains was also held, ensuring a smooth and well-organized event, with a commitment to fair play and discipline.
Following the formal proceedings, the day unfolded with an array of exciting sports competitions held across the various campus surroundings. . Students participated in a wide variety of events, including Kabaddi, Shot Put, Long Jump, High Jump, Bomb in the City, various running races, and the fun-filled Cycle Slow Race, among others. The air was filled with energy, and enthusiasm, as students cheered for their teams, displaying excellent team spirit and sportsmanship.
The day concluded with the National Anthem at 3:30 PM, marking the end of a successful and memorable Sports Day. The event not only showcased the athletic talents of the students but also highlighted the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and perseverance.
